With Memorial Day weekend starting tomorrow and leading directly into National Hamburger Day on Tuesday, there will be plenty of burgers and dogs put down over the next few days.

The Helix Lounge isn't the first place we'd think of to grab a bite. But after a menu revamp, the spot comes correct with a full-on burger bar, a lineup of signature burgs, heaps of impressive toppings and a Wednesday burger night for some cheap grubbing.

For all those lamenting the lack of bacon availability on a ShackBurger, lament no more; those wonderful strips of pork candy are now ready for burger action at the D.C. Shake Shack.

The D.C. beef boom continues with the arrival of yet another burger joint as the Canyons Burger Company is officially open for beef business in Judiciary Square.

It's a bit embarrassing it took us this long to hit up Fast Gourmet, the greasy-spoon-in-a-gas-station in the U Street corridor. But we finally did and it was just about everything we hoped it would be.

As we roll into 2012, the new year kicks off with a new slate of BOTMs, including a brand-new joint's introduction to the lineup of special monthly burgers. Also this month, one burg is only available two days of the week, another hooks up with everybody's favorite Thai hot sauce and, once again, the Food Network star's spot gives D.C. a swift kick to the nuts.

As we inched closer to the New Year, we checked the numbers and realized we had yet to hit our burger quota for 2011. So naturally, a year-end burger splurge was in order.

Since we're all about getting as many vices in before the ball drops this Sunday, the news Z-Burger is slinging free burgers tomorrow, Friday Dec. 30, is music to our ears.

We've eaten a lot of burgers this year. And through our legion of ground beef adventures in 2011, we encountered some pretty spectacular burgers. Each member of the Crew was asked to look back at their diary of burger consumption and find the one special creation– that single combination of bread and meat that stood head-and-shoulders above all the rest.

A new joint opens up every other week in the D.M.V. and, now, a spot that puts out one of our favorite burgers around has added another dy-no-fucking-mite creation to its lineup.

While Shake Shack has been making the bellies of the Crew and many others plenty happy, not everyone is thrilled with the N.Y.C. transplant.

Good news, D.C. burger lovers, the launch of the area's first burger truck is about to happen any day now.

When we first learned that both BGR and brgr:shack went turkey with their November BOTMs, we decided to put our disdain for the bird burgers behind us and give the two poultry patties a try. 'Tis the season after all.
