Meat on meat. Sandwiches on sandwiches. A Juicy Lucy. And….Chicago? Well, three outta four ain’t bad.

Read on for the deets on D.C.’s March BOTMs.

BGR The Burger Joint

We like meat. We love meat on meat. Ergo, we downright adore BGR’s March BOTM. Piling corned beef, sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing on top of a burger, BGR breaks out the Reuben. We break out our bibs.

Shake of the Month: You know it’s Girl Scout Cookie season when shakes get in on the action- the cookies go liquid this month with BGR’s Girl Scout Thin Mint shake.

Bobby’s Burger Palace

Even though we rubbed shoulders with the man down in SoBe, our new BFF still hasn’t given D.C. its own burger. This month, Bobby goes Windy City with the Chicago Burger topped with American cheese, sweet relish, banana peppers, celery salt, onion, tomato and pickles. Talk about a snoozer.  I’m sure any D.C. burger we’d throw together would top this thing.

Dogwood Tavern

And then along comes Dogwood, who must have heard us whining about a D.C. burger. They were all like “fuck that noise, we’ll give you a goddamn burger.” Then they went and slapped two grilled cheese sandwiches around the beef and said “Come. Eat. Expand.” That’s right– Dogwood’s BOTM is the Fatty Melt (they’re calling it the March Madness), and for $11, you get your choice of cheese and bread for the sandwiches surrounding your sandwich. You can even mix-and-match the top and bottom grilled cheeses. We’ve tangoed with this beautiful beast a few times over the years and look forward to another dance.

brgr:shack

A little late to the March BOTM party, but when you break out a Juicy Lucy, all is forgiven. This month, brgr:shack stuffs the beef with cheddar and blue cheese and dresses it up with lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, Applewood smoked bacon and their Shack Sauce. Hot damn, we think we’ve found another burger to add to our Burger Days 5 training schedule. (Don’t be too quick on Juicy Lucy trigger, brgr:shack tells us it won’t be available until tomorrow, 3/7.)

Shake of the Month: Classic shake this month–Coke float with vanilla bean ice cream.

(We’re always on the lookout for BOTMs. If you know of another D.C.-area joint that hooks up a monthly special burger, email us and let us know.)
