Umami Burger ‘Very Interested’ in D.C. [Mo' Burgers]

UPDATE: Eater DC has the news that Umami wants to do FOUR D.C.-area locations: Northern Virginia, D.C., suburban Maryland, and B-More. We may just faint.

Add another burger joint to the D.C. watch list. And this one’s a doozy.

The West Coast-favorite Umami Burger is “very interested” in the D.C. area, a rep told us this week and while it won’t be making an appearance for some time, that news alone is enough to get our panties in a bunch.

The Los Angeles-based burger chain received a $20 million investment for expansion into other markets and in addition to D.C., it’s looking at expansion to Chicago, Vegas, Philly and Miami.

On a recent West Coast swing, some of the Crew hit up a string of burger joints in California and after careful review, Umami came out as the top dog of ‘em all.
