Dogwood’s ‘Pickleback’ BOTM Puts the Shot in Burger Form This August
As the year rolls on, some D.C. burger joints are stepping up their BOTM game while others are content coasting through the summer. This month we’ve got three all-new burgers and one sad and tired repeat.
I think it’s safe to say we like the sound of Dogwood’s August BOTM far more than we like the shot its named after. The Pickleback tops an Angus beef patty with Jameson glaze, bacon, fried pickles, fried jalapenos and more Jameson glaze. We just hope they don’t go the Jägerbomb route next month.

BGR The Burger Joint
A brand-spanking new BOTM at BGR this month features that unlikely combination of fruit, cheese and meat. Sauteed onions, bacon, a slice of apple, lettuce and melted brie along with a balsamic glaze come together on top of the beef in the Bacon Apple Brie Burger.
Bobby’s Burger Palace
Never afraid to flaunt its lack of creativity, Bobby’s Burger Palace trots out the old and busted Cheyenne Burger in August. This burger was featured at BBP less than a year ago and, while we liked the flavor last time, the run-of-the-mill combo of smoked cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce and shoestring onion rings makes us yawn.

Burger Tap & Shake
BTS goes south of the border this go ’round with the Chilango. The surprisingly simple burger from the creative Foggy Bottom joint features just three toppings: pepper jack, guac and XXX sauce on the beef.

(We’re always on the lookout for BOTMs. If you know of another D.C.-area joint that hooks up a monthly special burger, email us and let us know.)
