BEEF BRIEF: Good Stuff’s Brit Burger

During our day-to-day adventures, we plow through so many burgs and we fail to share a lot of them here at Burger Days. We think that's just wrong. So in an effort to spread more beefy goodness, we introduce Beef Briefs, short, brief looks at more of the burgers we take to the face. Where's the beef? It's right f**king here.

The Olympics don't officially start until tomorrow, but we've never had much patience when it comes to burgering, so we hit up Good Stuff a bit early to get a piece of their limited-time burger inspired by the Summer games. The Brit Burger is available at Chef Spike's joints on Capitol Hill and in Crystal City until August 12 and we stopped by the former last weekend to jump on the Olympic action.  Truth be told, when we first heard of this burg, it didn't get us all that excited. The toppings --smoked English cheddar, caramelized onions and horseradish mayo-- are fine, but really not much of a departure from our typical burger conquests. Appearance-wise, the thing looks like just about every other Good Stuff burger when you unwrap it, with a bun wrinklier than Abe Vigoda and a mess of sauce and melted cheese. But, thankfully, like the rest of the lineup, this ugly ducking tastes better than it looks. But still-- it didn't impress us all that much. When all was said and eaten, we liked the Brit Burger, but the run-of-the-mill creation left us wishing Spike would have been a little more creative with the toppings for this special burg.  Keeping that in mind, if we find ourselves back in Good Stuff before the end of this promotion, we'll be awarding our medals to the Prez Obama Burger, Good Stuff Melt and Colletti's Smokehouse, leaving the Brit Burger staring at the podium from afar.
