One of these years, we’re going to go all out and red carpet the shit out of our Burgers of the Year awards but until then, a blog post will have to do.

"Epic burgers, my way, will be back," new Mad Fox chef Travis Weiss tells Burger Days. "As well as the original bacon jam, which was my recipe." Oh, hell yes.

We were all excited to get our Epic Burger* on at Mad Fox on Wednesday but our plans were abruptly thwarted when our server informed us that there was no Epic Burger available last night. Shit.

Starting tomorrow, BlackFinn (AmeriPub in Merrifield and regular ol' BlackFinns in D.C. and Bethesda) is kicking off their own Burger Month celebration with 30 days of burger specials and contests.

Sometimes even we need a break from the never-ending carousel of beef that makes up our Burger Days.

It's no secret we love the bacon jam. Our obsession dates back to March of last year when we took on a healthy dollop of the stuff with one of Mad Fox's burger specials and each and every time since we've tangled with the sweet, bacony goodness, we've been left wanting more.

The Helix Lounge isn't the first place we'd think of to grab a bite. But after a menu revamp, the spot comes correct with a full-on burger bar, a lineup of signature burgs, heaps of impressive toppings and a Wednesday burger night for some cheap grubbing.

We got a nice shout out on NBC's Today Show up in NYC today with our contest winning sharp cheddar, bacon and onion jam burger receiving some airtime on the boob tube this morning.

Eating burgers is what we do. And we do it very, very well. We also like to think we know how to construct burger. Apparently, the folks at GO Burger think so too.

As we inched closer to the New Year, we checked the numbers and realized we had yet to hit our burger quota for 2011. So naturally, a year-end burger splurge was in order.
