DCity’s Hector Puts All Other Chili Burgers to Shame [Sorry, Ben’s]

dcityhectorside dcityburgdetailsDCity Smokehouse is known for its ribs and its chopped pork and its brisket and its smoked meat-filled sandwiches. Not so much its burgers. But that's a mistake. While it's hard to pass up the Meaty Palmer or Brisket Champ, the Florida Avenue barbecue joint's everyday burger is a near-perfect mass of meat, cheese and grease. So when we asked DCity pitmaster Rob Sonderman to come up with a twist on his already excellent double-pattied creation, we waited with bated beef-tinged breath to see the result. And then he brought out the Hector. HOT. DAMN. A tower of food that's probably illegal in several states (and almost definitely in Utah), the National Hamburger Week special takes the base formula of DCity's original burger – two four-ounce patties, chipotle aioli, pickles, cheddar and onion strings – but then adds even more cheese, grilled jalapenos and finally, the coup de grâce for our chances of going shirtless this summer, a heaping, steaming ladle full of smoked brisket chili. Oh, and a toasted buttered bun hilariously tries to keep this whole thing in check. Napkins – you're gonna need a million of 'em. Truth be told, we have no clue who Hector is but if he's the inspiration for this burger, then damn it, we love him. YES, WE LOVE HECTOR SO HARD. In fact, he's ruined all other chili burgers for us. Sorry Ben, there's a new sheriff in town and his name is Hector from DCity.
