Food & Wine’s Best Burger List Sucks [RANT]

palenacheeseburger Time.com has a post this week touting Food & Wine's list of the 25 best burgers in the U.S. The only problem is, it's the same fucking list that gets put out every fucking year. For at least the past four years, F&W has been trotting out this same shit list, blasting it all over the Internet and getting people excited over their editors' so-called burger "expertise." It's nothing but cheap, shitty clickbait. And it's insulting to their readers, too. It's not that the burgers on the list aren't deserving of praise –they are– it's that the list hasn't been updated in YEARS and they're still passing it off as up-to-date each time. When we first saw the list in 2011, they listed Palena's burger as one of the country's best (rightfully so), but then they described it as being made with a Kobe beef patty. Well, that was wrong and Chef Frank Ruta confirmed to us that it was actually Angus beef (F&W has since corrected their error). But there's another problem– it still lists the since-shuttered Cleveland Park joint on the current list. And even if we give them a pass, since the Palena closure was just a few weeks ago, those non-updating dicks continue to keep Ray's Hell Burger, complete with their old address, as one of the country's 25 best. Ray's Hell Burger has been closed for over a year. The bottom line is two of the best burgers in the U.S.*, which both happen to be in the D.C. area, are no longer in existence. What's that mean for the rest of the list? It's fucking terrible. *according to the F&W "experts"
