Alfie’s Alex McCoy to Open Burger Pop-Up, Lucky Buns, May 29
Beef-and-bun mastermind and creator of some of the best burgers in D.C., Alex McCoy, will debut a burger pop-up at his Park View restaurant, Alfie’s,
this Sunday next Sunday, May 29.
In a Burger Days exclusive, McCoy, creator of the Proper Burger at Duke’s Grocery, the Aussie burger at Alfie’s and the Burger Royale at Crisp, tells us his new pop-up, Lucky Buns, will feature new twists on his current burger lineup which already includes the excellent OG and Aussie burgers. McCoy will also be throwing a few new recipes into the mix including a veggie burger, a bacon cheeseburger with bacon “XO” marmalade and a green chili burger with pickled-and-charred poblano peppers. Burgers at Lucky Buns will be available for both eat-in and take out.
Also, all this week McCoy is serving a beef version of his D.C. Burger Throwdown entry, Girl, Shake That Daffy Patty, at Alfie’s featuring a Creekstone Farms patty, bacon” XO” ketchup, Chinese mustard, smoked cheddar, coriander, scallion and pickled cucumber.
Lucky Buns will be open Sundays, starting May 29, from noon to 9 p.m., at Alfie’s at 3301 George Avenue NW in Park View (don’t you dare call it Petworth).
