Poste_BurgerBattle_600x800_R2Like moths to a flame, so are our bellies to burger battles. And this Sunday, our collective stomachs will be flocking to Poste for the 4th annual Brainfood Burger Battle pitting the cheffiest burgers of D.C. against each other in one, giant beefy bonanza. Ten participants will go toe-to-toe (or more like, grill-to-grill) in the greasy grapple which features no area burger joints, but instead, some of the area's top kitchen talent. Twenty-fourteen Burger Battle champ Matt Adler of Osteria Morini is back to defend his crown against homecourt chef Kyoo Eom of Poste, Joe Palma of fancy-ass Bourbon Steak, Dan Singhofen of Macon Bistro & Larder, Matt Hagan of Firefly, George Rodrigues of Tico, Nick Wiseman of DGS Delicatessen, our latest burger-maker crush, John Critchley of Brine, Matt Baker of Gravitas and Shannan Troncoso of Brookland's Finest. Judging the contest are chef Ris Lacoste of RIS, Porn Burger mastermind Mathew Ramsey and Centrolina chef Amy Brandwein. Because booze and burgers are what makes the world go 'round, there will be plenty of the former on tap Sunday, too. Three Stars Brewing and DC Brau will supply the beer and local bartenders will hook up some cocktails. Tickets to Sunday's bash are $75 and include all the burgers and drinks you can fit inside you with net proceeds benefiting Brainfood, a D.C. non-profit that uses food and cooking to teach life skills and healthy living to teenagers. The 4th annual Brainfood Burger Battle is Sunday, September 20, 3:30 - 6:30 p.m, at Poste Modern Brasserie (555 8th St, NW, DC).
