October BOTMs Get Spicy & Philly-fied

As we roll into October, a trio of new burgers of the month are on the menu at the local joints. This time around, two of 'em are bringing the heat while the third takes its inspiration from Philly. Scope out this month's BOTMs:

BGR The Burger Joint

BGR is combining the best of wings and burgers with their October burg, the Buffalo Blue.  They're taking Frank's "I Put that Shit on Everything" Red Hot sauce, slapping it together with blue cheese and bacon and throwing it on one of the burgers for quite a bit of spice in a bun. We've gone four for the past four BOTMs at BGR and we don't think we'll be breaking the streak this month. Keep 'em comin'. Shake of the Month: BGR hooks their shake up for a cause this month, serving a pink strawberry shake in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition, they'll be donating a buck from every shake ordered to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure foundation, so drink up. 8 Locations in D.C., Maryland and Virginia | bgrtheburgerjoint.com

brgr:shack

brgr:shack goes all City of Brotherly Love on us this month with The Philly: a lettuce, tomato, sauteed green bell peppers and onions, red-wine-sauteed mushroom, cheese and roasted red pepper mayo sauce burger. It sounds like a winner to us, save for ooooone little detail. When it comes to cheese, you've got a choice of American or Swiss Provolone. Since we're assuming this burg is an homage to the iconic cheesesteak, we'd be remiss if we didn't remind the brgr folks of what happens when you combine it with the later option. Might we recommend Cheez Whiz instead? (UPDATE: Crisis averted, we've been told Provolone is actually the other choice) Shake of the Month: Attacking your sweet tooth this month will be brgr:shack's Butter Pecan Butterscotch milkshake. 4125 N. Bobby Burger Palace

The other burger with the fire this month is Bobby's Burger Palace's Nacho Burger. With tomato-chipotle salsa, nacho cheese sauce, pickled jalapenos and blue corn tortilla chips, it sounds like this one will raise your temp a degree or two. And since there's already chips on the burg, there's no need to crunchify the sucker. (And for the record, it's month two and still no D.C. burger...) 2121 K Street, NW | DC | bobbysburgerpalace.com
