Last Saturday, the 2014 D.C. BRGR Bash stepped up its game to go along with a change in name and venue. This year’s sold-out burger bonanza featured twice as many competitors slinging beef, pork and lamb burgers as well as more booze to wash it all down.

With a new name, new venue and new lineup of participants, the burger bash formerly known as BRGR Battle is back and the beef starts flying next Saturday.

It's July and another crop of BOTMs is ripe for the harvest. This month we get basil ketchup, some pesto, a blaze-worthy burger and a goddamn repeat.

The first of two new Shake Shacks set to come to the D.C. area is opening this Monday in Union Station, the NYC burger joint announced today.

Smashburger will fire up the grills for the first time in Falls Church next month when the Denver-based chain opens the doors to its latest D.C.-area joint with a ribbon cutting set for Tuesday, December 10 and grand opening for the public on the 11th.

Tonight, WETA's new documentary on the D.C. burger scene, "Burgers in Washington," premieres on the tube featuring 17 different joints in the District, Maryland and Virginia.

They've jinxed the Nats and the 'Skins, now let's see if they can do the same to the looming government shutdown.

Queue the drool--, Burger Days fave Red Apron Butcher has tripled the burger lineup at its Merrifield joint, with two additional burgs joining its dynamite Original.

With the sun and rain battling for supremacy in the sky, 10 of D.C.'s top chefs battled in the courtyard of Poste Moderne Brasserie Sunday, hoping to walk away victorious from Brainfood's first-ever D.C. Burger Battle. After all was said and eaten, The Source's Scott Drewno won both the Judges' and Chefs' vote with host Dennis Marron of Poste taking home the People's Choice award.

Starting tomorrow, BlackFinn (AmeriPub in Merrifield and regular ol' BlackFinns in D.C. and Bethesda) is kicking off their own Burger Month celebration with 30 days of burger specials and contests.

We were happy to see Joe's Burgers get some love from area chefs during Eater's Burger Week, and since it had been a hot minute since we last got our beef on at the McLean joint, we decided to kick off National Hamburger Week with the unheralded burger slinger.

The fast-food style joint Burger 7 was set to bring its beef to the City of F.C. proper later this spring but has had a change of plans.

The long-delayed opening of Kraze Burger's third U.S. location is just around the corner, but now it's just a question of where that third location will be.

The long-awaited, first-ever Virginia location for D.C.-based burger chain Z-Burger's is now open (finally).

The latest future location for the fast-growing chain Smashburger in the D.C. area will be the City of Falls Church.

Oh, that's just a double-pattied, double cheese, double bacon burger with a BBQ brisket stuffed beer battered onion ring in the middle and horseradish BBQ mayo. You know, no big deal.

This week, Falls Church's Mad Fox Brew Pub is throwing out some of the most extreme and massive combinations of beef and bun we've ever seen. And that's saying a lot.

It's no secret we love the bacon jam. Our obsession dates back to March of last year when we took on a healthy dollop of the stuff with one of Mad Fox's burger specials and each and every time since we've tangled with the sweet, bacony goodness, we've been left wanting more.

Ray's Hell Burger Too is being replaced by a steak and cheese joint. This is not a repeat.

There's not much more we can say about the burger we downed on Day 6 of National Hamburger Week. We'll just reiterate what we've said before about 2941's All American: this is one of the best burgers we've eaten. Period.

When the stars and planets aligned and Eater DC declared this past week Pizza Week --the SAME week as National Hamburger Week.... well, hell, we just about passed out.

As we roll into 2012, the new year kicks off with a new slate of BOTMs, including a brand-new joint's introduction to the lineup of special monthly burgers. Also this month, one burg is only available two days of the week, another hooks up with everybody's favorite Thai hot sauce and, once again, the Food Network star's spot gives D.C. a swift kick to the nuts.

As we inched closer to the New Year, we checked the numbers and realized we had yet to hit our burger quota for 2011. So naturally, a year-end burger splurge was in order.

We've eaten a lot of burgers this year. And through our legion of ground beef adventures in 2011, we encountered some pretty spectacular burgers.
