As we roll into 2012, the new year kicks off with a new slate of BOTMs, including a brand-new joint's introduction to the lineup of special monthly burgers. Also this month, one burg is only available two days of the week, another hooks up with everybody's favorite Thai hot sauce and, once again, the Food Network star's spot gives D.C. a swift kick to the nuts.  

Dogwood Tavern

The Falls Church City bar and restaurant starts off the year with their first-ever burger of the month. We've been encouraging the fine folks at Dogwood to get in on the special burger thing for a while now, calling them out on their lack of burger creations when we did our Falls Church Burger Tour last summer. And wouldn't you know? They got the hint. With their first foray into the world of BOTMs, they're hooking up the Spicy Cow: jalapenos, bacon and chipotle cream cheese on a 1/2 pound burger. BGR The Burger Joint

Now this is what we're talking about. While BGR has kept it relatively tame --but still tasty-- with their last few BOTMs, they done went all out with their first 2012 joint. The Sriracha Me Crazy! is pretty damn nuts. Not only does it hook up the ridiculously addictive hot sauce Sriracha, but also brings grilled pineapple, cilantro, grilled jalapenos and bacon along for the ride. Yeah that's crazy. Crazy like a delicious, sweet and spicy fox. Shake of the Month: Coffee? Check. Donuts? Check. Blender? Check. BGR's January Shake of the Month? brgr:shack is changing it up a little this month, as their BOTM is really a BOTMAOOTW. For those without acronym deciphering skills: Burger of the Month Available Only On the Weekend. They call it The Hangover and it's a doozy. It's fried egg, Tillamook cheddar, red onions, dill pickles, Sriracha ketchup on a toasted English muffin. Yeah, that'll work. But with it only available on Saturday and Sunday, what will the Crew eat after our weekday benders? Shake Dessert of the Month: Another curveball as they nix the shake of the month and, instead, opt for a dessert. Disappointed? Don't be, 'cause this sucker takes a trip to the fryer-- deep-fried vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Like the BOTM, this is only a weekend deal. 4125 N. Bobby's Burger Palace

And what about Bobby's Burger Palace? We get the feeling old Mr. Throwdown is just rubbing it in our faces now. Not content in simply snubbing D.C. on a burger, this month he goes out of the country and gives our neighbors to the north their own creation. BBP's The Canadian comes with white cheddar, ham Canadian bacon and maple mustard sauce. What a crock of shit. Are we being petty? Probably Absolutely.
