The first of two new Shake Shacks set to come to the D.C. area this year is opening Monday in Union Station, the NYC burger joint announced today.
The third brick-and-mortar Shack (fourth overall, including Nats Park) will hook up all the usual ShackShack burger and dog goodness plus two Union Station-only custards: a Baked & Wired-collaboration called Busy Bee featuring vanilla custard, strawberry puree and B&W's Bee Sting bar with sliced almonds and honey and the Beaux-Arts Banana with vanilla custard, caramel sauce, banana and graham crackers from Pollstyle. Unfortunately, unlike their JFK spot, this transportation hub Shack will not be offering breakfast.
A fifth-area Shake Shack, and Virginia's first, is opening in Tysons Corner later this summer. a rep tells us most likely in late July or early August. The Union Station Shack will open its doors at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 23.
