UPDATE: And they're open! Matchbox, the pizza joint that also puts out a damn tasty burger, is coming to Falls Church. The D.C.-based restaurant has signed a lease for 7,000 sq. feet of space in the upcoming Mosaic project in the Merrifield area of F.C., Washingtonian reported today. In addition, Taylor Gourmet, Sweetgreen and a restaurant from Jeff Black (BlackSalt, Black Market Bistro, etc.) are said to be coming as well. Pete's New Haven Style Apizza is "considering" a spot. While we're looking forward to all the above restaurants, the Matchbox signing makes us very, very happy, as their Bistro Burger with blue cheese and bacon (and of Burger Days II fame) is one of the better burgers around the D.C. area. Mini-burgers (we're not bowing to their "slider" claim) are also a popular choice at the joint. We'll have to wait a bit for our burger fix however, as the Mosaic development isn't set to open until the Fall of 2012.
