We don't get the whole stigma behind meat in a can. Nobody looks down upon soup or beans or SpaghettiOs, so why should they when in comes to our favorite food?
Spam, long maligned and ridiculed, is just another way we can get our pig on and for that, we are grateful.
We're happy to say Right Proper Brewing Company appreciates the wonderfulness of that gelatinous meat brick and, along with its less-processed form, has created the No Ka Oi burger for National Hamburger Week.
Chef Sarah Biglan's burger, which means "the best" in Hawaiian, was inspired by her time living in The Aloha State and combines Spam and pork into a seven-ounce patty, glazed in teriyaki and topped with a Maui onion and pineapple relish.
Please consider our No Ka Oi haiku:
It's salty, it's sweet.
It's made from meat in a can.
We like all of that.
If that didn't work for you, here's a Burger Days PSA:
Don't be scared of Spam. If there's one thing we can all agree on here, it's that MEAT IS GOOD.
Even if it comes in a can.
