BGR The Burger Joint is opening up at Tysons Corner Center and then, in December, Kraze Burger's third U.S. location will debut at Tysons Galleria. Add to the already present Five Guys, Elevation Burger and, yes, McDonald's, and that will make FIVE dedicated burger joints in the two malls. Throw all of Tyson's other restaurant's burgers in the mix and you're looking at double digits. That's pretty fucking spectacular.
Since Kraze* is still a ways away, we focused on the soon-to-be-newest kid on the Tysons burger block and met up with BGR owner Mark Bucher this week to get the inside scoop on his upcoming joint.
Located on the second floor of the mall, next to Cava Mezze Grill, the Tysons spot will be BGR's 11th D.C.-area location and 23rd nationwide. Set up in the standard format --80's themed, music-video-playing flat screens, etc.-- this newest Burger Joint will be one of Bucher's biggest to date. With access from both inside and outside the mall, the restaurant will seat about 80 people including seating on an outdoor patio.
When it comes to the beef, the Tysons location will be slinging burgers by the boat load. With the mall's massive amount of foot traffic, Bucher expects it to be the busiest BGR of them all, putting out two to three times the volume of his current top spot.
Construction on the Tysons BGR should be completed in two weeks and Bucher looks to open doors a couple of weeks after that. We'll bring you all the opening details here on Burger Days, so make sure you keep it locked to stay in the loop.
*In addition to its December opening in Tysons, Kraze Burger will open a second location in Lansdowne later this month. This restaurant will be bigger than the Bethesda joint and will feature a bakery inside that will supply the burger buns to all the area's Kraze locations.
Sorry DuPont Circle, you're going to have to relinquish the greasy crown; by the end of this year Tysons Corner is going to be the biggest burger mecca in the D.C. area. All hail the D.M.V.'s new burger king.
In about a month,
