The Original Snob with smoked Gouda, Pompous sweet potato fries and aioli sauce. Plate not included.
Despite the prolific food truck scene in D.C., the options for curbside burgers are rather limited.
Dorothy Moon, which hit the streets at the end of last year, is still the area's lone burger-centric truck. But all that's set to change next month when the D.M.V's burgers-on-wheels population doubles in size.
To two.
SNOB Burger is getting ready to roll onto the scene with burgers thrown together with Middle Eastern and North African spices, gourmet cheeses and custom sauces. "We plan to deliver a product that matches well with the D.C. culture and tastemaster's palates," SNOB's Milton Bell tells Burger Days.
SNOB stands for "Serving New and Original Burgers" and after traveling all over the world, Bell, a P.G. County-transplant from Orlando, says he's developed quite a palate. "Our international spices and seasoning give the burgers a great flavor," he says.
Prepared daily, using fresh, never frozen, Angus beef, SNOB will hook up generously-sized 9 oz. burgers (80/20) that can be dressed up with a variety of toppings –they call them Pretentions– including bacon, avocado yogurt, jalapenos and seven kinds of cheeses. On the side come Pompous Fries available in sweet potato, seasoned waffle and red potato round varieties.
Choices aren't limited to the toppings either-- we're really digging their bun lineup which include white, oatmeal wheat and
PRETZEL! options (
emphasis totally ours).
In addition to the beef, The Original Snob, the truck will hook up The Country Club Snob (chicken), The Skinny Snob (turkey) and The Healthy Snob (veggie) burgers. Three ounce sliders, or Little Snobs, will also be available.
More props to them for the prices, I mean,
this is street food after all. The sizable burgers will set you back just six bucks (all toppings but bacon included) with fries an additional $2.50. Combos including burgers, fries and a drink will run $9 (with soda) and $10 (lemonade).
"I have been privileged with the opportunity to eat some of the best burgers through Asia, Europe and Middle East," says Bell. "It is our goal to bring that same flare and character to the D.M.V. food truck scene."
The SNOB Burger truck is scheduled to hit the streets Friday, June 8 and will serve D.C., Arlington, Alexandria and Montgomery County.

So long, Dorothy Moon, we hardly knew ya. It seems like only yesterday we were extolling the debut of D.C.'s first-ever, full-time burger tuck, but now, just nine months after first hitting the streets, it's rolling off into the greasy sunset. While they're still currently slinging the street meat, the…

Looks like D.C. will have to wait a little longer for their taste of SNOB Burger. The second-ever burger-centric food truck in the D.M.V. was scheduled to hit the streets today, but in an email sent out this afternoon they said "due to circumstance[s] beyond their control," the truck's debut…

One of the most frustrating things for us, being the fanatical burger lovers we are, is the utter lack of options in the D.C. food truck scene. It's pathetic. We've been cruelly teased in the past by short-lived trucks (see Austin Grill's brief four-month run) and never-got-out-of-park trucks (Rolling Wit…
