UPDATE: Z-Burger just tweeted that all audience members during the eat-off will get a free burger after the contest. Let's hope you still have your appetite after seeing something like this....
Grab your napkins, strap on your bibs and start the stomach stretching, because Z-Burger has just announced the latest installment of their Annual Independence Burger Eating Contest.
There are probably better (and surely healthier) ways to celebrate America's independence other than stuffing mass quantities of greasy ground beef into your face, but we can't think of any at the moment.
For the third straight year, beef gluttons from all over will gather at Z-Burger to see who can inhale the most burgers in 10 minutes. Last year's winner, "Furious" Pete Czerwinski, defended his burger-eating crown by depositing 23 in his belly in those 600 seconds.
Good Lord.
This year, the beef will be flying at two separate contests; one at the Tenleytown joint and the other at White Marsh.
You'll be eating pretty if you've got what it takes to place in the burger race-- Tenleytown's top five finishers will get both cash and Z-Burger tokens with the #1 scarfer pocketing a cool 1,750 bones plus $750 in tokens. The top prize at White Marsh is $1,000 and $500 in Z-Burger tokens.
The White Marsh contest kicks off first on Thursday, June 30 at 12:30 p.m. with Tenleytown's taking place Friday, July 1 at 12:30 p.m.
Sign up to get your burger on here.
