Another new burger joint and another new burger buzz word. Basic Burger opened in Arlington yesterday and rather than the whole "better burger" mantra being endlessly chanted by other new burger concepts (including Chipotle) popping up all over the place, this one is all about the "basics." Describing itself on its website, Basic Burger says "Basic Burger is just that, Basic. Basic ingredients locally sourced for the highest quality. Basic beef from 100% Certified Angus cattle. Basic chicken thoughtfully raised in humane cage free environments with no added hormones or antibiotics. We are proud of the word Basic. For us its a return to quality food. Basically Delicious." In case you were wondering, that's seven basics. Anyway, the Basic Burger menu is pretty generic touting locally-sourced grass-fed Angus beef and includes three "Basic" burgers: a hamburger, a cheeseburger and a bacon cheeseburger plus a veggie burger and a double-pattied Great 8 burger. We're guessing it's named after Ovechkin but we're not really sure why. Also in the Basic Burger lineup are hot dogs, chicken sandwiches (both grilled and fried), salads and shakes. Sides consists of shoestring fries, sweet potato fries, fried pickles (chips, FYI), onion rings and loaded fries with chipotle ranch, bacon, Parmesan, scallions AND a fried egg. Oh word.
