We're still working off the beef and booze bender –AKA Burger Days IV– that took place on Sunday but we wanted to give you guys a heads up on a little D.C. burger news.
For those outta the loop, Tune Inn, the Capitol Hill dive that puts out a damn fine burger, was damaged from a kitchen fire a few weeks back. They were forced to shut down and plan on being closed for the better part of the summer, but in the meantime, plans have been made for a fundraiser for the joint's employees.
From DCist, a group of Capitol Hill and businesses will host the benefit on Friday, July 15 at the American Legion Post 8, just a few blocks away from the bar. They're looking to raise $50k for employees who are not covered under the bar's insurance policy.
Tune Inn holds a special place in the hearts of the Burger Days crew as it was the star of the first-ever Burger Days adventure, some four years ago. The joint is also featured in hamburger guru George Motz' book Hamburger America and was hit up by Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
