Don't act surprised D.C.-- yet another new burger joint is coming to District.
Bolt Burgers is just the latest, and certainly not last, concept to jump in the D.M.V. burger fray, announcing their plans to bring in a press release today. (Though we think Bolt may have the corner on eye doctor approved burgers, as this new spot is "the brainchild of a consortium of Washington area eye doctors." Um, yeah.)
There's not many different ways new joints can articulate how they are approaching the idea of a burger, and Bolt's mantra of a "better burger" with "high impact flavors," doesn't seem to buck that trend. They tout Bolt as being a place where "sophisticated burger lovers will be able to kick back and enjoy flavors they can't get at any other fast casual burger restaurant." We'll just see about that.
Bolt promises hand-formed patties of an "exclusive" and "extra juicy blend" of Certified Angus beef and flavors including spiced rubs (toasted peppercorn and herb, fiery chili, cumin and paprika), sauces (tomato and sweet basil and Habanero, cilantro and lime mayo), artisanal cheeses (local Virginia goat, truffle Pecorino, smoked Gouda) and homemade relishes (black bean, corn and Vidalia onion and crunchy Asian slaw).
Bolt will also offer up the boozers and what sounds like boozy smoothies, including smoothie mimosas.
They don't offer up a location, saying just that they are seeking a premium location and are narrowing the search for a high traffic site. No opening time either but the release says their plans are to open 2-3 more stores after the first joint is deemed a success.
The release:
Bolt Burgers, a brand new fast casual restaurant concept, is coming soon to the Washington, DC area.
Bolt is the brainchild of a consortium of Washington area eye doctors, led by Mike Davidson, O.D, himself an experienced retail entrepreneur. The consortium joined forces with Restaurant Consultants, Inc., led by Joe Spinelli, a veteran with over 40 years in the Washington, DC restaurant business. No stranger to fast casual restaurant concepts, the team realized the “better burger” market represented a great opportunity. While the “better burger” restaurant category has been growing rapidly, Americans’ appetite for true high quality burgers is still spiraling upward. But they needed a point of difference. Challenging the status quo, they chose to cross the “better burger” with another powerful food trend: high impact flavors.
Bolt Burgers is where sophisticated burger lovers will be able to kick back and enjoy flavors they can’t get at any other fast casual burger restaurant—big, satisfying flavors beyond what you expect from a burger, fries and soft drink. The antithesis of quick serve burger joints, it’s an experience worth savoring, from the hand formed patty of Bolt’s exclusive, extra juicy blend of Certified Angus Beef, to the toasted brioche bun, to the layers of flavor piled in between, including:
Spice Rubs, such as Toasted Peppercorn & Herb and Fiery Chili, Cumin & Paprika
Artisanal Cheeses, such as Local Virginia Goat Cheese, Truffle Pecorino and Smoked Gouda
Exclusive Sauces, such as Tomato & Sweet Basil and Habanero, Cilantro & Lime Mayo
Homemade Relishes, such as Black Bean, Corn & Vidalia Onion and Crunchy Asian Slaw
For those who hunger for something other than beef, Bolt will also offer:
Turkey Burgers
Marinated Chicken Breasts
Vegetarian Black Bean Burgers
Gourmet Grilled Cheese sandwiches made with Bolt’s artisanal cheeses.
While Bolt’s operations have been designed for maximum efficiency, utilizing the latest food service technology, diners will feel right at home. It’s a friendly place designed to please affluent diners who want more than a quick serve burger joint, don’t want the hassle of a traditional sit down restaurant, and have a taste for something more satisfying than just another bacon cheeseburger. An open kitchen, beer and wine service and smoothie bar serving original concoctions, like smoothie mimosas, will encourage diners to sit a while and enjoy more of what Bolt has to offer in its 2800 Square Foot units.
After achieving operational success at the first store, Bolt plans to open 2-3 stores in similarly positioned demographic areas of Washington, DC.
