WCP Readers Pick Black & Orange as D.C.’s Best Burger

The Washington City Paper published their Best of D.C. 2012 Food & Drink winners today and WCP readers selected Black & Orange as the best burger in D.C. Five Guys and Ray's Hell Burger finished in second and third place respectively. Not really any surprises here, Black & Orange is pretty efficient at the "get-out-and-vote" call (see their admirable finish in Esquire's poll earlier this month) and we all know the cult-like following Ray's and hometown boys Five Guys have. (We just thank God Elevation Burger didn't weasel their way into the top three.) We're fans and have had good burger experiences at all three joints, though we'd be lying if we said the choices reflect our top picks. With the amazing selection of ground beef and buns available to us in the D.M.V., there's just a few too many others we'd pick first. But nevertheless, congrats to all three joints, especially B&O, which has made an amazing rebound after their forced shuttering back in 2010. Don't call it a comeback. (Oh and we're happy to see the WCP didn't make another attempt at selecting a "staff pick" for best burger. We weren't too happy with the reasoning behind last year's selection and if you can't do it right....)
