Screaming Lambs, Slaw & More Pineapple Star in August’s BOTMs

The burgers are all over the creativity scale this month with a July BOTM doppelganger, another District snub from Mr. Flay, a Tunisian creation and one that's almost certainly got Dr. Lecter's lips smacking.

BGR The Burger Joint

Ham? Check. Pineapple? Check. Sweet sauce? Check. Talk about déjà vu. For the second consecutive month, a BOTM goes Hawaiian, and while not a terrible combination (we really dug it last time), it's not original by any stretch of the imagination. BGR's take on the Hawaiian Burger hooks up one of their dry-aged beef burgers topped with grilled pineapple, ham and a teriyaki sauce. Shake of the Month: They must have a shit-ton of the fruit in the back, because the SOTM goes Pineapple too this month. 9 Locations in D.C., Maryland and Virginia | bgrtheburgerjoint.com

Coming of two stellar BOTMs, Foggy Bottom's Burger Tap & Shake keeps it going with the non-beef burgs again this month breaking out the oh-so-cleverly named lamb burger, the Clarice Starling. Featuring a fresh-ground lamb patty, pickled red onions, goat cheese, mint pesto and a Chianti mustard aioli, this burger makes us want to put lotion all over our skin.  Shake of the Month: Do you love ice cream? Do you love pie? Then get the Key Lime Pie SOTM at BTS. 2200 Pennsylvania Ave NW | DC | burgertapandshake.com

The Falls Church sports bar goes Mediterranean this month with the Harissa burger. The beef gets mixed up with the spicy chili paste and then is topped with fresh mozzarella and a cucumber pico with tomato, onions, garlic and lemon. 132 West Broad Street | Falls Church | dogwoodtavern.com    (We're always on the lookout for BOTMs. If you know of another D.C.-area joint that hooks up a monthly special burger, email us and let us know.)
