November BOTMs: It’s the Most Poultry-ful Time of the Year [BOO]

Look, we love Thanksgiving. LOVE IT.  The morning-to-night food and booze fest that results in days upon days of glorious leftovers is one of our favorite times of the year. But as November rolls around, so does the emergence of turkey on center stage at burger joints everywhere. We do not love that. Look-- we get it, you're being seasonal, good on ya, but we're going to be munching on turkey for a good while after Thanksgiving-- please just stick with the beef.

BGR knows how yous kids like 'em sloppy.

BGR The Burger Joint

Our first turkey BOTM comes from BGR, which is hooking up their annual Thanksgiving on a Bun burg. We're not gonna lie, the thing is a Turkey Day lovers wet dream complete with cornbread stuffing, cranberries and gravy on a turkey burger. But if you're feeling beefy (and who isn't?), then swap out the turkey for the cow and really make it a party. Shake of the Month: Pumpkin takes the shake stage at BGR with a Pumpkin Pie creation with the taste of cloves, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. For those who dig the booze, there's a spiked version too done up with Captain Morgan. Aye aye. 9 Locations in D.C., Maryland and Virginia | bgrtheburgerjoint.com | @bgrburgerjoint

Be Right Burger's The Gobbler.

brb be right burger

The bird burgs continue as Be Right Burger does their own version with The Gobbler which they also deem as "Thanksgiving on a Bun." With a turkey burger, house-made stuffing, turkey gravy and cranberry sauce, it shares much of BGR's BOTM ingredients, but they one up The Burger Joint by throwing some sweet potato puree onto it all. Well played, brb, well played... Shake of the Month: An Apple Pie milkshake is front and center as brb's November SOTM. 1820 Discover Street | Reston | eatbrb.com  | @eatbrb

Bobby's Burger Palace

Oh Bobby, always turning his nose up at convention. Ignoring the season (thankfully), Bobby's Burger Palace brings back their Brunch Burger as a BOTM in November again. You won't find any turkey on this one with a fried egg, bacon and American cheese on a 100% cow burg. Dogwood Tavern

Beef on beef-- it don't get much better than that. Another Thanksgiving BOTM snub as Dogwood brings The Reuben front and center with a sauerkraut, corned beef, Swiss and thousand island topped beef burger. No winged-animals in this sucker and that couldn't make us happier. 132 West Broad Street | Falls Church | dogwoodtavern.com | @dogwoodtavern (We're always on the lookout for BOTMs. If you know of another D.C.-area joint that hooks up a monthly special burger, email us and let us know.)
