All cheese should be fried cheese.

There's a rainbow of burger flavors on the menu this week, as a potpourri of ingredients get sprinkled on the beef at both Joe's Burgers in McLean and Dogfish Head Alehouse's three locations in Virginia and Maryland.

At Joe's, there' the OMG burger (that's that pretty little thing in the photo) with fried goat cheese, balsamic reduction and arugula. Also on tap, the Carolina Burger gets some of its own fried goodness when fried pickles join the party with pulled pork, Carolina-style BBQ sauce and cheddar. Both burgers will be available at Joe's through at least this Thursday.

The unlikely combination of fruit and cow come together at the Gaithersburg Dogfish Head this week. It's rare we come across a burger blueprint that's new to us, but the Spicy Granny Burger with a spicy Granny Smith apple slaw, fries, lettuce and tomato on a half-pound patty, is brand spankin' in our eyes.

Another unconventional --though not unheard of-- combo comes to the plate when peanut butter and bacon mix it up on top of a patty at the Fairfax Dogfish. And finally, over in Falls Church, one of our favorite sandwiches gets burgerfied with the Reuben Burger made up of corned beef, sauerkraut, thousand island, spicy mustard and provolone.
