Whatever, Canada. We got our own Halloween candy-stuffed burger.

Whatever, Canada. We got our own Halloween candy-stuffed burger.

This week, a burger joint in Canada made headlines with news that it was serving a burger dressed up with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Everybody lost their shit as news of the caloric Halloween monstrosity spread across the web with many lamenting why the U.S. hadn't thought of it first. Actually, we did. Last year, we told you about Dogfish Head Alehouse's Halloween burger of the week topping a half-pound beef patty with two peanut butter cups and bacon. Granted, the meat isn't stuffed with them like the Canadian version, but still, how about showing a little respect for the forward-thinking Fairfax joint? But, wait – there's more! dogfishhalloweeninside This year, the Alehouse flips the script on its Halloween creation and ditches the cups for Reese's Pieces, mixing the candies in with the beef and then slathering the top of the patty with peanut butter and bacon. BOOM – take that, America's Hat. We tried this Halloween obscenity and, surprisingly, it wasn't as batshit crazy as it sounds. Peanut butter and bacon is a dynamite combo – the salty, sticky spread plays extremely well with the crispy and salty bacon – though, Reese's Pieces mixed with beef is, how can we put this...an acquired taste. The hint of sweetness was nice addition but the lingering taste of artificial peanut butter candy was distracting from the rest of the flavors. If we had to do this all over again, we'd keep the PB and bacon, but swap out the Reese's for M&M's instead. Sorry, ET. The Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Bacon Burger is available at the Fairfax Dogfish Head Alehouse through November 1, so if you're feening for a candy-stuffed burger in the good ol' U.S.A., you know what to do.
