Brats on burgers. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Shake Shack's annual Oktoberfest promotion (dubbed Shacktoberfest, natch) returns tomorrow, however, this year the burger slingers are lightening up on the meat and bringing more carbs into the mix. In years passed, as many as four different types of sausages have appeared on Shake Shack's special Octoberfest-themed menu but this year they've ditched the Bavarian bratwurst, Polish sausage and currywurst and instead are offering up a lone cheddar-stuffed brat topped with crispy shallots and cheese sauce called the ShackMeister. Also of note, Shake Shack has switched up its sausage supplier, too; rather than NYC's Schaller & Weber like before, all the brats come from Usinger's Famous Sausage Co. out of Milwaukee.

The brat stands alone.

Filling the sausage void on the menu this year: a soft pretzel. The new seasonal addition comes hot, buttered and covered in a colorful Bavarian-spice blend. It's $2.99 and we strongly recommended adding some cheese sauces to the equation for an extra buck. Also back, Shake Shack's own version of the hamdog (though, we bet much tastier than that Australian monstrosity). The brat burger basically puts a whole ShackMeister brat – shallots, cheese sauce and all – on top of a burger. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Rounding out the Shacktoberfest menu is a pair of shakes (Apfelstrudel and Black Forest) and a giant bier stein filled with 25 ounces of special Shake Shack Oktoberfest brew from Brooklyn Brewery. Shake Shack's Oktoberfest celebration starts tomorrow, September 23 and runs through Sunday, October 2 at all brick-and-mortar Shacks (sorry, Nats Park).
