One of our favorite D.C. burgers – one we eat more than any other – is Red Apron's Original. So when the man behind our beefy obsession, chef Nate Anda, decides to toss together a few more meat-on-bun creations, our attention is most certainly grabbed. Tonight and tomorrow, at Neighborhood Restaurant Group's summer pop-up beer garden, Canteen, Anda will be slinging three all-new burgers from the appropriately-named hot dog cart, Frank. First, there's the pork sausage Maialino burger with Anda's cotechino patty, American cheese, Calabrian aioli and pickled onion. Up next, the Old Faithfula slight variation from our favorite Original mentioned above, swaps out cheddar for American but sticks with the classic toppings of pickles, lettuce, tomato and 1000 Island. And finally, the one we're most looking forward to, the Big Pun, a double-pattied beef burger topped with pimento cheese, smoked mayo and roasted tomato. Terror Squad, for the win. All the meaty goods will be available today and tomorrow at Canteen, from 4 – 10 p.m., at 2100 M Street in D.C., along with plenty of booze to wash it down from NRG's Greg Engert and his crew.
