Capon take South Beach.

Ain't no Bash like a South Beach Bash 'cause a South Beach Bash don't stop.

For the past 12 months, we've been counting down the days and listening to Will Smith's jam on repeat, eagerly awaiting this upcoming weekend. Today, the Burger Days Crew leaves D.C. along with the snow, rain and tornadoes behind and heads down to sunny Miami for the burger parties of all burger parties: the SOBEWFF Burger Bash. This year, the deliciously greasy beach party – officially the Amstel Light Burger Bash presented by Schweid & Sons hosted by Rachael Ray* – celebrates the 10th anniversary of its beefy beginning. Everything goes down Friday on the sand outside the The Ritz-Carlton in South Beach and we'll be there once again providing live coverage of the burger-and-booze smorgasbord. Unlike past years, the powers that be are keeping the Bash menu under wraps in 2016, so we haven't been able to strategize our plan of burger attack. While the specifics are still unknown, we have gotten a look at the lineup and it looks stellar. Noticeably absent from the competition this year, however, is 2015 People's Champ – and our pick as most-entertaining Burger Basher ever – Josh Capon. Also missing is four-time SOBE champ Michael Symon and crowd-favorite Bobby Flay. In fact, with the exception of Iron Chef Morimoto, there's no other Food Network star participating in 2016. Despite the lack of stars, the D.C. burger scene will still be making its mark in South Beach. Good Stuff Eatery's own Spike Mendelsohn – who swept the field in 2009 – is back in the mix this year, representing his Miami cafe, Sunny's. Other 2016 Bashers with local ties include Bourbon Steak's Michael Mina, Tico's Michael Schlow and Mark Rosati from Shake Shack. Needless to say, we're going to be eating well Friday night. Stay tuned for more... * We got winded just typing that.
